This week I will share with you one tip each day that has had a lasting impact on my health and fitness goals.
Tip #1 Eliminate all oils from your diet.
This may be a tough one to wrap your head around as olive oil and other oils have been heavily promoted as healthy. But hear me out, when I first started on my weight loss journey I was eating tons of olive oil in my food. I was cooking it with vegetables, adding it to my salads and slathering it on bread. But one of the problems with olive oil is how it relates to calorie density.
Consider this:
2 tablespoons of olive oil is 239 calories and 27g of fat.
Compare that to 9 cups of broccoli which has 240 calories and 0g fat.
Which will fill you up more?
For about 250 calories you can also eat:
4 cups of air popped popcorn
4.5 cups of zucchini
3 pounds of tomatoes
4 pounds of mushrooms
1 whole head of cabbage
3 slices whole wheat bread
5 pounds of celery
The above examples will fill you up more than 2 tablespoons of olive oil ever could. So save the calories to eat something more filling and with virtually no fat.
-Ditch the oil and eat your salad with oil free dressing (recipe here).
-Cook your vegetables with vegetable stock.
-When dining out ask for dressing on the side or fresh lemon juice.
